What is the active ingredient Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On?

Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On contains Fipronil. This is an insecticide, and kills adult fleas and ticks. Fipronil works by killing parasites through contact, not via the bloodstream. This means a harmful flea or tick does not have to bite your pet in order to be killed, thereby reducing the chance of disease transmission from fleas or ticks.

Why do I see more fleas after treating my cat or dog with Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On?

Fipronil kills fleas by affecting their nervous system and inducing hyperactivity. During this hyperactive stage, fleas become more active meaning your appear to see 'more fleas' on your pet. In fact, these are the existing fleas on your cat or dog trying to 'get away' from the flea treatment. They often crawl to the top of your pet's coat, becoming more visible before they die.
